Secretary of Finance and Administration Pea Ridge United Methodist Church

As the primary source of communication and information and proprietor of financial records, it is necessary that the Secretary of Finance and Administration be well­ organized and efficient; that he/she be attentive to detail; possesses the abilities and competencies necessary to recognize discrepancies; and be able to work independently with minimal direct supervision.


The qualifications for the Secretary of Finance and Administration of Pea Ridge United Methodist Church include the following:

A. Personal integrity as evidenced by favorable background check.

C. The ability to work and communicate effectively with individuals and groups as demonstrated through effective verbal, written and computer/social media skills.

D. Ability to deal with conflict management and problem resolution, and to act decisively with minimal supervision.

E. Knowledge of church operations both internal and within the community.

F. Knowledge of fundamental bookkeeping practices and experience/knowledge with, but not limited to:

General ledger maintenance

Recognition of, investigation into and resolution of discrepancies Check and voucher tracking

Bank account reconciliation

Understanding of/tracking budgetary accounts

Formal coursework/training in bookkeeping and accounting is desirable.

G. PowerChurch and Publisher knowledge is a plus.


The responsibilities of the Secretary of Finance and Administration are as follows:

A. Manage the finances of the church, duties to include but not limited to: Issue checks/vouchers

Maintain bank accounts and ledgers Prepare financial reports and analysis

Input member contributions and prepare contribution statements Prepare/deposit Form 941 and employee withholding

B. Serve as primary person of contact with duties to include, but not limited to: Answer/direct incoming phone calls

Prepare/deliver outgoing communication (robo-calls) Create bulletins and mailings

Prepare monthly newsletter Manage church data bases

Work with communications team to update media

D. Manage the church calendar

Work with various staff/teams on event planning Schedule events

E. Order and maintain office supplies

F. Other duties as assigned by Pastor, staff and/or team leaders.
